SEARCH RESULTS FOR 'GAMES'
'Game' websites from the archive
Rough Exploration
Questions _ first impressions
Are we supposed to figure out what kind of websites are on here?
Do we have to use all of the archive in our interface?
How is this interesting for gamers…?
There are so many websites on this it's overwhelming.

Maybe it would be interesting to look into the history of how video games were designed for people in the 70s and the 90s and compare it to how it is designed now.
You can even play some games in the arcade collection!
The archive seems serious and informative which is a big contrast to gaming which is more about entertainment and having fun.

Concept
When you look at a pyramid from above, you can see 'the tip of the iceberg' but not what is underneath. Just like the big archive, when you touch the surface it's fine, but when you dive into it it's so much information that it is overwhelming. We realized that the shape of the pyramid can be build out of the icons/buttons of the playstation.
The bottom of the pyramid is the square, the top is the cross, the sides are the triangles, and to turn the pyramid around to see different perspectives, you have to make a circulair motion: the circle.
Conclusion
The archive itself is never going to be really interesting for gamers, they are complete opposites and we can embrace that. The archive is basically a big box filled with billions of old URL's. For the current archive applies: when you touch the surface it's fine, but when you dive into it it's so much information that it is overwhelming, aka the pyramid.
The archive itself can't become interesting for gamers. So we're gonna make it interesting by creating an interesting experience, the interface.

Ideas _ thoughts
- Creating an universal language with the 4 different buttons of
the playstation, this will allow the gamer to navigate with specific movements through a pile of information, like the archive
- Making the website as a game - you play to go through the different layers of information
- Making a 3D model of the pyramid as a different way of visualization

What is in the internet archive?
What can this treasure box of content do for the gamers?
What could be interesting to them?
(For example, the language of gaming, the history, ...)
What filter will we apply to the project to make it interesting?

The 'Gaming world' is a menly world, however this doesn’t mean it’s inhabited only by men.
Who is the “girl gamer”? Is there such a thing as “healthy gamer lifestyle”? Can a girl beat “the expectations”, the stereotypes, and be an educated person, having a good, sporty and healthy life and be a professional gamer all at once?

Some helpful websites from the archive:

The time travellers
It seems that the websites in the archive are mostly history-related.
How can we connect this to the modern world?
The links and the sources are too many, how is the easiest way in which you can find the important information for you?
A question in my mind - if I was a gamer what should i be looking for in an archive like this one? Instructions? Game history? Codes or data information?
[side note/tip: talk about this and ask someone who is into playing different types of games]
Disabled gamers
WHO? Disabled gamers want to be able to have access to every game to feel less isolated and have more options to choose from.
WHAT? Transform the archive as a name game that is accessible for disabled gamers. (Research about accessibility and how much you need to be able to move to be able to play.)
WHY? accessibility, entertainment, inclusion; Disabled gamers should be more included in game design, people often don’t think about them because they don’t know about them. This user group is challenging but it also helps us expand our knowledge further and we would do something that is beneficial for the disabled gamers.

Older gamers, 50+ years
WHO? Older gamers loved playing arcade games as kids and now they are maybe less interested in new games because they’re different (I assume this but I’m not 100% sure).
WHAT? It would be interesting to transform the web archive into something that could be used to revisit the golden age of arcade games.
WHY? To give this user group an opportunity to travel back in time and relive an important part of their childhood.

Gamblers
WHO? Gamblers play to win money and the goal is to win more money than what has been spent.
WHAT? Maybe we could rebuild the web archive as a website that allows gamblers an opportunity to win more money. Or maybe a place where all the information about the gambling world is gathered.
WHY? Because they love to win money and learning new ways how to make money while gambling is a reason for them to visit the archive.
